I've only discussed this winter with regard to the precip with non-meteorologists so I wanted to ask if you think that the wonderful snows we received this winter were the result of a confluence of El Nino, a lack of sunspots and a dipping Jet Stream. That's my layman's opinion. Numerous weather affecting factors coinciding to allow the multiple perfect snowstorms.

Having endoured mostly ice events since moving to North Texas in
86 including the '93 Thanksgiving day massacre, the Valentines day snow of '04 was wonderful beyond words. My dad was AF weather and we were assigned to Mass., the UP of Michigan and Germany so I had an appreciation for proper snow as winter precip. Having lived in the South since I've had a license however, I have never learned to drive on winter roads (except for the axoimatic advice to take it slow) so as beautiful as it was while falling, I was glad it had evaporated by the following evening.

The 2010 events were similarly ephemeral and for that I was thankful.

Good to hear a voice of reason from someone in the weather community. I feel like many meteorologists feel as you do but, as you point out, they are not really able to voice an opinion because of who they work for. I certainly don't have the scientific knowledge you have but I do know we have had temperature cycles for many, many years. Keep up the good work of educating the public and encouraging people to research and think for themselves.

Kristine, I have been wondering where you were. I missed newscasts during the first part of May so did not see your farewell. I feel a loss. You are such a classy lady and I am so pleased to hear about your books...God will lead you into wonderful things.

Good luck and God Bless You,
Karen

I've enjoyed your reporting over the years and was sorry to see you leave the air. I wasn't sure what happened - some personal issue or dispute with the station - but I'm glad to see it was for someting you wanted to do. All the best!

Hi Kristine. Thanks for the forecast. I really miss your weather knowledge and your presence on TV. Perhaps you could put a short weather blurb on twitter once in a while too. Have a great summer!
